Strategic Alliance for Water Loss Reduction

Dear all,



a new Strategic Alliance for Water Loss Reduction has been launched in April 2012! GIZ, VAG and Sewerin have joined forces for a holistic approach to water loss reduction, that includes capacity development as well as technical implementation.



Based on the Guidelines for Water Loss Reduction, which can be downloaded via the project website (www.waterlossreduction.com), training modules have been developed. The training offered by the Strategic Alliance is primarily geared towards executive staff of water utilities as well as operators of water distribution systems. Currently, the training program consists of three modules, which can be implemented either individually or as a 3-day in-house training, depending on the respective local conditions. Each module lasts approx. one day and consists of theoretical input as well as practical exercises. The following modules can be offered at this point in time:

A separate module on leak detection (M3.3) is currently being developed. Depending on the specific needs of interested water utilities, training on systems and equipment before their installation as well as on-the-job-training or coaching can be arranged. Trainings can be conducted in English (in the near future also in French and Spanish) either in Germany or in your respective countries.



The next training will take place in Mannheim, Germany from November 27-29, 2012. For a minimum of 20 participants, this 3-day training by two international trainers will cost approx. 800 € per participant, excluding board and lodging. For trainings taking place in your respective countries, we can offer an additional information event for decision makers. Furthermore, the Strategic Alliance can conduct Training of Trainer-courses upon request, as we are also striving towards creating a trainer pool and anchoring our trainings at regional / local training institutions.
